Doris Helen Johnson
January 16, 1912 - April 15, 2014
DORIS JOHNSON,
January 16, 1912 ~ April 15, 2014
Doris was a long time resident of
Midland. She was born in
Cornwall, Ontario in 1912 and
moved to Midland in 1956. She
was in her 103rd year. She was
predeceased by her husband of 46
years Edward Johnson, a career
employee of Bay Mills; and by her
daughter Geraldine Burford (nee
Johnson). She was the last
survivor of her family, surviving her
brothers Danny, Cecil, Ralph and
John Kennedy; and her sisters Kay
MacDonald and Marion McGrath.
She is survived by her son Peter
Johnson and his wife Barbara; her
nephew Brian Kennedy; her nieces
and their husbands, Genevieve
Kennedy, Mary Liz and Darcy
Aikman, Susan and Alan Benjamin
and Brenda and Gord Cavanaugh.
She also has four grandchildren,
Andrew and Matthew Burford;
Michael and Nicole Johnson, as
well as her great-granddaughter
Ruby Geraldine Burford.
She loved her Church and loved
living in Midland. She liked to have
a good time and talked about her
friends and neighbors of 50 plus
years, "The Hanly Street Gang".
She always said that the worst
thing about growing old wasn't the
aches and pains, but the loss of
family and friends. She was my
Mom. I am so proud of her and we
will miss her very much. She had a
"great life". Many thanks to the
wonderful nurses and staff at the
"Hillcrest Village Care Center" who
have taken care of my mother for
the last 6 years, I will always
appreciate it.
Memorial donations to St. Margaret's
Building Fund would be
appreciated.
