Loreen Ens, a four time cancer survivor, succumbed to the fifth and final encounter with cancer going home to be with the Lord, her Saviour, whom she loved and served, on January 24, 2014 at the palliative care unit in Penetanguishene, Ontario. Left behind to mourn and remember is her husband of 48 years Walter, her children Ralph and Wendy Ens (Amanda and Brienne), Tracey Ens (Kayla and Joshua), and Jonathan and Jolene Ens (Sarah and Charlotte). She will be missed by family in Manitoba: Dennis and Carolyn Penner and family, Jack and Janice Penner and family, David and Linda Penner and family, brother in-law Walt Willems and family, aunt Elsie, as well as Ens family in Ontario and Manitoba, the Kunca family of Lithuania and many more relatives and friends. Loreen was pre-deceased by her son Philip, her sister Amy Willems, and her parents Jacob and Lena Penner. Loreen devoted much of her time at Hillcrest Village Care Centre, first as an employee and later as a Volunteer. Loreen was a member at Knox Presbyterian Church where she served with her gift of music. We extend our appreciation and thanks to Dr. McCutcheon for 38 years of medical care until his retirement and now recently to Dr. Helt for medical care and encouragement.
The Ens family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 28th from 7-9 p.m. at the Nicholls Funeral Home, 330 Midland Avenue, Midland. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 29th at 2 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 539 Hugel Avenue, Midland; Pastor Alton J. Ruff officiating.
