William "Bill" McKeen
February 27, 1942 - February 17, 2016
Passed peacefully surrounded by his family at the Georgian Bay General Hospital, Midland, on Wednesday, February 17, in his 74th year. Deeply missed by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Janice, son William (Sherra), granddaughter, Emma (Colin), mother Mona McKeen, and siblings, Chuck, Pearl, and Mary Lou (Les). Predeceased by father, Alvin (2000), and grandson, Stephen (1996). Bill, recently of Victoria Harbour, formerly of Barrie and London, Ontario, an avid golfer and long-time hockey player, coach, referee, and widely known as the "Timekeeper" in later years, was awarded the Jean McCann Unsung Hero Award and inducted into the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. Private service and interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, London, will take place at a later date. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Barrie Minor Hockey Association, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program at Barrie's Royal Victoria Hospital, Canadian Diabetes Association, or the charity of your choosing.
